Somebody told me you can change your second profession. Is this true?

100% true ... and you can do that after you ascend!

Yes, but you may only do it later in the game, specifically in the desert area. Several of those NPCs are scattered around the place in towns and outposts and you have to complete the quest they give you to change your secondary profession to what that NPCs offer.

i would suggest you get as many skills for your current secondary profession and then consider switching to something else. Don't do it right after you ascend.

what is ascending? And where is the desert?

Go through the missions and primary quests, and you'll get there soon enough...

Presearing Ascalon -> Postsearing Ascalon -> Kryta -> The Wilds -> Crystal Desert -> Ascension

So in other words you must explore each area or do each mission to reach ascenssion?

No. Where did you get that idea? To Ascend you have to do Elona Reach, Dunes of Despair and Thirsty River.

Maybe you just did all of the other missions before Elona Reach, Dunes of Despair and Thirsty River.

Just keep doing the missions and you will eventually get there.

The mission that brings you to the desert is at Sanctum Cay, so once you're at that one you'll know that you are close. Once in the desert, there are 3 mission towns to visit and the missions there can be done in any order. Once you beat all 3 missions, you go to a town in the center of the desert to ascend. Ascending is a small 1-man mission of sorts... I won't ruin it by giving it away.
